Warum der Tennisarm keine Entzünung sein kann

Diagnose Golferarm

Hast Du überhaupt einen Tennisarm ?

Epicondylitis radialis humeri

Diagnosis Tennisarm

It will hurt to shake hands with people, lift a cup or a glas etc.
It also hurts more at night after some hours of not moving when turning in the bed etc.

You feel rather powerless with that hand.
If you try to press something with your hand (back of your hand/outside of hand against top) from down towards up, it hurts.
There is a strong hurting point on the most prominent outside ellbow bone, as if you did hit a wall or something with it recently.

DIAGNOSIS:
Lay your arm flat on the table.
Push/hold your middle finger of the sore hand down with a finger of the other hand.
Try to lift/move that pushed down middle finger up against the pressure.
If it hurts, it's a tennisarm.

And here is how to treat your tennisarm and get healed in weeks.

Important basic knowledge

1. The tennisarm is not an inflammation. An inflammation usually is warm/hot, maybe swollen, these are not symptoms of the tennisellbow. All treatments aiming at treating an Inflammation will therefore fail or worsen it. Do not cool it, keep it quiet, put it in a cast, tie it to your chest etc. Also anti-inflammatory pills and creams will not help. Cortison only helps for about 2 weeks and acts like a painkiller without solving the problem (attention: more than 3 cortison injections will surely damage your tissue permanently = a glueing and melting of tissue, dissolving fatty tissue). Continue with your normal activities in work and sports etc. it will not get worse, even if it hurts. Stop looking for the actual cause, it's a waste of time. Ususally there might be a small trigger, but your barrel was just full over the years and the trigger was only the last drops needed. Usually it's the "age", tennisarm patients are mostly 35-45 years old, its just the weakest spot of the arm.

2. It is "only" a (chronic) cramp of the muscle! The muscle cramp is pulling on the tendon. The tendon pulls on the nerve where it is grown to the bone on the ellbow. The tendon itself might with time and the chronic cramp actually be a bit shorter than necessary. A vicious cycle of pain, cramp and more pain usually starts, especially if you try to "save" it and not use it as before! The longer you have been in that cycle the more patience is needed to finally get out of it because there is a "memory" of the pain and it also takes a bit longer to stretch that muscel and tendon.

3. The Stretching Therapie / Exercise should loosen the cramp, prevent it and make the tendon a bit longer in time. The cause of the pain will finally dissappear gradually. The first big results should be felt in 4-14 days though! Until the whole terror is gone it will take some weeks and months.

Diagnose Golfarm

Even lifting small weights hurts (on the inside of the ellbow).
You don't like to greet people and shake hands because it hurts.
To turn around in bed at night hurts your arm.
It is worse in the morning than in the evening, your arm must run warm first.

You feel rather weak with the arm.
If you press something with the back of your hand (topside) down, it hurts.
There is a hurting spot close to or at the ellbow bone on the inside (close to the body), as if you had hit it badly before.

Lay the hurting arm flat and fully stretched on a table. Inside of hand down, back of the hand (topside) showing up.

With your ringfinger press strongly against the table, press downwarts. Your arm lifts of the table supported only by the tip of the ringfinger.

If it hurts now, you have an obvious Golfarm.
